Among the initial forming of Xbox Game Studios Santa Monica branch The Initiative, many were shaken by the fact that one developer from a rich exclusive release and an even more talented developer would be accompanying the team being established. In that, Insomniac Games’ Drew Murray announced he will be working for the Xbox developer leading forward.
Of course, it wasn’t until this past December that Murray and the rest of The Initiative team officially announced its upcoming Perfect Dark project. While still in early development, the studio of industry veterans are ensured to promise a fulfilling release. However, in the midst of production, Murray announced to be retracting from The Initiative after more than two years at the firm with no direct answer as to why.
Now in a new thread of tweets from Murray on Twitter, he announces to be making a return to Insomniac Games under the reign of Sony Interactive Entertainment.
Following the news breaking, many fans jumped to possibilities as to what Murray can be responsible for developing in the coming future. Some toss the idea of a potential Resistance return alongside potentially harboring a Sunset Overdrive sequel. The likeliest on face surface is the latter since Sony Interactive Entertainment does own the property rights to the Xbox One title.
As for what is currently on the public channels, Insomniac Games is finishing up Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart scheduled to hit the PlayStation 5 this coming June. You can read the full report by heading here.
