While the first game released over a decade ago, fans are still raving about their experience on Xbox 360 for Alan Wake. Even more, players that enjoyed the initial experience continue forward demanding news on the second game in the series. While developer Remedy Entertainment is still running, other projects in its pipeline were shipped like Quantum Break & Control.
In 2020, the Finnish game studio did retouch on the previous generation IP with the ‘AWE’ DLC for Control at the time. But more interesting is the report that surface earlier on in 2021. From GamesBeat’s Jeff Grubb, it is told that Remedy Entertainment is working on a sequel now with its new publishing deal with Epic Games. However, details on the status of the project has yet to be revealed since the initial reporting.
This past spring, however, revealed new data entries regarding the series over on Epic Games Store. In that, Final Fantasy VII Remake and Alan Wake Remastered were processed into the storefront’s code. But now, new listings over in Taiwan from Rakuten reveals more tangible evidence of the project existing.
However, upon visiting the listings will redirect you to a separate listing unrelated to the initial discovery. From what can be dissected from the original listing is not much to expand on either. But, it is said the game will be releasing on October 5th next month. More interesting is that Niko Partners’ David Ahmad has referenced the game to be revealed at the coming PlayStation 5 Showcase later this week.
The game listed for Xbox Series console alongside PlayStation 4/PlayStation 5 does appear to be a decision most favorably from its developer. Predating back to 2019, Remedy Entertainment announced that the IP has been officially acquired from Microsoft. You can read the full report by heading here.
