The talk of cross-play have been the big discussion the past year most recently with the controversy surrounding Sony with Fortnite. As Microsoft has made it apparent to be at open arms to allow cross-play between platforms, looking towards Minecraft, the company is pretty flexible to make it a reality.
Now the discussion has reached BioWare’s upcoming title Anthem. A fan on Twitter asked Executive Produce Mark Darrah when fans can expect to play with friends on competing platforms. Where he responded that the support won’t be present at launch.

Darrah’s straight-to-the-point response is evident enough that crossplay support could have already been discussed and possibly already in the works. For what platforms that will eventually receive the support is most likely between Xbox and PC. Microsoft’s console primarily due to the fact that the company has marketing rights to the upcoming title.
For if PlayStation 4was to receive support as well would be determined by how much influence stands behind the approaching title. Seeing how popular Fortnite currently is answers why the battle roayle received crossplay between all platforms. It is possible, but highly unlikely unless something changes Sony’s mind.
Anthem is set to release on February 22, 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
