Astral Chain Confirmed For No Post-Launch DLC, Trilogy Planned Instead

As we have now entered the Summer with the upcoming line of that games that are upon us this stretch of months, information regarding said titles are expected to unveil leading up to their releases down the line in the coming weeks. This goes for PlatinumGames Astral Chain which is aimed to launch in late-August as detail regarding post-launch content for the game has emerged.

According to an interview with IGN Benelux, studio Director Takahisa Taura has shared that downloadable content following the game’s release date is not planned for Astral Chain. However, for the basis of the coming title, Taura revealed that in an agreement between the developer and publisher Nintendo, the game is planned to become a trilogy of titles instead.

This is different for the game’s story. We make the game a trilogy and this is the first part of that trilogy. If this game sells well then we may see how the story of the series continues.

A noteworthy mention from Taura’s statement is that the game will only receive follow-up titles to form a trilogy if the game meets expectations and performs well following launch later in the Summer. Meaning, development won’t kickoff for the sequel until possibly a few weeks after Astral Chain drops. That is only an estimated guess, but seems likely if Nintendo is waiting on how the title does in the open.

What do you think about Astral Chain possibly becoming a series of games in the potential future?

Astral Chain is set to release on August 30, 2019 for Nintendo Switch.
