Atomic Hearts Add-On ‘Annihilation Instinct’ Launches Today

For years, developer Mundfish has been finely tuning its upcoming Soviet-based, shock-like game Atomic Heart. After the confirmation of the game’s next-generation versions, fans were ecstatic to realize the launch is soon. And by February 2023, the title officially released. Even more, Atomic Heart shipped day one for Xbox Game Pass too.

In our review for the game, we told the game “is a fun and challenging twist on the standard shooter formula. […] Atomic Hearts is an enjoyable experience and introduces several new mechanics.” Continued by adding that it “is an easy recommendation if you’re a fan of Wolfenstein, Bioshock, or immersive first-person shooters.”

Now this week, developer Mundfish returns with a new story add-on which expands on the story’s climax for fans hungry to dive back into Atomic Heart with ‘Annihilation Instinct’. You can watch the trailer in the video below:

“Continue the story in the Annihilation Instinct DLC and learn what happened to this dystopian world after the climax of Atomic Heart. Prepare to embark on a journey through the new mind-bending Mendeleev Complex and its surrounding swamps and discover the truth about NORA as Major P-3 is pulled back into Facility 3826,” the synopsis for the DLC reads.

“Survive vicious, shape-shifting new enemies and take them down using two cunning new weapons – ranged one the Secateur and melee one the Klusha – as well as your glove’s new Techno-Stasis ability, allowing you to manipulate time itself. Meet a new enigmatic character, as well as returning ones in surprising circumstances and dive deep into the AI’s insanity to curb its Annihilation Instinct.”

In terms of what else is promised, New Game+ is also on the roadmap for this first DLC for Atomic Heart. And yes, that was worded right – Mundfish has more content planned for Atomic Heart following this DLC. “This first batch is packed with all types of new content to keep the experience as thrilling as ever: a new area, new weapons, new enemies, a new glove ability…,” Focus Entertainment added.
