Free World Food Festival Update Brings Lots of Additions to Overcooked!

Overcooked All You Can Eat is getting a free update today for the World Food Festival. A number of additions are coming with it, such as new chefs, recipes and kitchens. A total of ten levels have been added across the three new areas of The Metro Mash, Baked Bazaar, and Pepper Plaza. The chefs you know and love are all there, including two new ones; A fox and a globe chef. Two new recipes are also able to be thrown together in the kitchen as we’ll be making chicken bobotie and paneer curry. If you find yourself getting frustrated with burning food or similar, a new hpst of difficulty and accessibility options are available. The new and improved assist mode is accessible at any point and offers up the ability to skip levels; increase order and level timers; increase recipe scores; toggle order times on/off; shorten player respawn times; make food harder to burn or turn off burning entirely. Perhaps adding a Door Dash or Uber Eats mechanic is the most surprising addition. World Food Festival will now have delivery bags block your way, forcing you to toss in the needed ingredient. Doing so will have the delivery guy show up to get the bag out of your way. Check out all the new changes here. World Food Festival is available now on all platforms for Overcooked All You Can Eat. Take a look below.

Review: Asterigos Curse of the Stars

asterigos

Asterigos: Curse of the Stars is the newest addition to the action RPG genre. Tinybuildgames and Acme Game Studio have combined Greek and Roman mythology into a game with shining examples of originality. You can imagine a blend of Kena: Bridge of Spirits with Dark Souls-like combat, and you are left with a game most deserving of its own franchise – Asterigos: Curse of the Stars. We play as Hilda in Asterigos. She is a soldier in the Northwind legion and on a mission to solve what exactly is causing this curse. While searching for her father, the commander of the Northwind legion, Hilda comes across Minerva. At thousands of years old, Minerva is a deity that tasks Hilda to seek out and solve the curse. What makes Asterigos so original is the manner in which the story plays out. Missions have different consequences dependent upon how they are completed. For example, one of the early missions sees Minerva request you retrieve a specific item, but to do so while keeping a low profile. During the mission, you meet some other characters who attempt to persuade you in taking a “less subtle” approach. The choice you make here, as well as multiple other times during your journey, will determine how characters interact with Hilda. The wrong decision will see Hilda get chastised, while the correct one will reap praise. Don’t worry though, as curious players can head over to New Game + in order to test out any decisions they didn’t get to make the first time around. Non-completed side quests can also be taken on. The voice acting I can only describe as pure and genuine. At no point did it feel forced, and the actors showed true emotional attachment to the characters. There is a reason that very few games are on God/Gears of War’s level when it comes to voice acting, but Asterigos is sneaking up on them. The quality really added to the immersion and attachment to the story. The combat in Asterigos is truly fluid and one of the most open-ended I’ve seen in an action RPG. Hilda utilizes six different weapons: sword and shield, spear, staff, hammer, daggers and enchanted bracelets. Two of these can be equipped at any one time, and Hilda can swap back and forth during combat for what seems like an infinite number of combinations considering the wide variety of enemies. I chose to ride with the staff and daggers in order to have both up close and ranged attacks. The enemies are geared toward certain weapons, and it’s this that lets players truly make Asterigos the game they want it to be. You may want to back off and fire a staff ranged attack at a projectile enemy. You may, however, be better off blocking with your shield as you methodically move in for a strike. When you throw in the game’s environmental deaths and three difficulty levels, there truly is a style for all players. Word to the wise, the game’s hardest “challenge” difficulty truly is one of the hardest I played. No achievements are tied to difficulty, so don’t feel pressured to go for it. I went through on the hardest level, and I wouldn’t recommend it despite the feeling of accomplishment once it was over. Asterigos features a Dark Souls-like death metric with a twist that I found greatly refreshing. Dying will see you lose 10% of your currency but none of your XP. All enemies will respawn and you will be sent back to the last conduit (save location) you visited. While 10% loss doesn’t sound that huge, it’s bigger than you’d expect. The currency counts toward purchases of items as well as upgrades so it’s a double hit. You can also save at any point, including during combat. If you die, all you have to do is load a save file and you can spare yourself the 10% lost currency. Loading any saved file will still start you at the last conduit rather than where you were when you saved the game. So, you’ll still need to run back past where you were, but the enemies will no longer be there. It’s a good strategy to use during boss fights as it saves you a lot of time and costly potions while you’re attempting to make your way back. A HUD does not exist in the game. While Asterigos is not open world, Hilda can explore in a semi-linear format. Check out alleyways, roof tops, prison cells, abandoned buildings and more to acquire new items and crafting materials for Hilda. The absence of a HUD had me constantly wondering if I was going the way I needed for a quest or simply exploring. I’m a side quest whore and always need to search everywhere. Asterigos allowed me to feel as every decision mattered as I never knew if a choice would lead me to a mystery item or boss cut scene. Hilda will see no shortage of upgrade options either. Each of the six weapons has both passive and active abilities you can unlock whenever you level up. Attribute points earned can be used toward health, attack power or skill power. Talent points go toward your weapon skills. Depending on your play style, adding an extra attack to your staff or decreasing the stamina lost while shield blocking becomes a rather large decision. Approximately 35-40 hours of gameplay can see a careless decision negatively domino effect Hilda. Asterigos also features bright and vibrant environments that are fully “voiced” as well. You hear the crackling of the fire from a torch, the running of water, footsteps, etc. All of the backgrounds were luxurious and detailed. There were a few hiccups with pop-ins as turning the camera back and forth would make certain objects appear and disappear, but nothing too crazy. The in game camera during combat was difficult to manage at times. I play with the option to have the camera automatically switch to

Review: Unusual Findings

Unusual Findings is a point and click adventure by Epic Llama games. Three friends Vinny, Nick and Tony have to solve what happened after an alien space ship crash lands in their town. Right from the jump, Unusual Findings is a nostalgia overload that brings the 80’s streaming right back into your living room. Even the main story line is a throwback. Vinny gets grounded by his dad after causing a science experiment to go haywire and explode. The plan is to sneak out with his buddy Nick to go to their friend Tony’s house and watch some scrambled porn with Tony’s descrambler. After it messes up and causes the spaceship to crash, the kids sneak out to go find out what happens. Right off the bat, the alien murders a cop then takes off. The kids now are trying to find out what’s going on and stop the carnage from escalating. Being a point and click adventure, we are left with three main choices in “look at, talk to or grab” when it comes to an item. The story ties into these by allowing you multiple ways to go about your progress. Your choices determine how people interact with you in the game going forward. While it may be funny to punch a character in the face, it may be more beneficial to simply talk to them. Standard for the genre, there is no HUD or direction on where to go. Players are forced to constantly back track to find items and solve puzzles. It’s up to you to do so, and if you don’t you may end up with hours on end of being in a rut with nowhere to go. Unfortunately, several times during our play through saw glitches halt our progress. Even doing the right thing would see the game provide us dialogue as if we chose the wrong option. Only uninstall/reinstall several times did it finally let us move forward. It really sucked because the story was hysterical and it took away from the immersion. It’s one thing if I can’t figure out a puzzle, but not being able to tell if I’m doing it wrong or if the game was glitched pissed me off. The jokes were hysterical. To the developer’s credit, they don’t pull any punches. It’s an 80’s game and the jokes are edgy, 80’s humor. One point sees the trio of friends walk up to a van in the park at lover’s lane. As it’s rocking proverbially with some hot action inside, Tony comes out with “Looks like someone took the free candy at the park”. I admit, I laughed so hard. I mean, it’s not every day a pedo joke gets dropped in a video game, but that was damn funny. Although the story was funny, it has it “What the hell moments?” Shortly after witnessing the alien murder a cop right in front of them and laser beam melting dozens more, they start asking it for help and being nice to it. It threw me for a loop as it doesn’t tie into the story at any point later on. It happened several times. A single time can be a one-off, but it was too forced with the amount of times it occurred and acted as a detriment to the overall story gameplay. Fortunately, the game sees some redemption from its nostalgia overload. Growing up in the 80’s myself, it brought me back to remembering times with my friends. Some was on the nose. For example, a bunch of Star Wars toys are referred to as Galaxy Wars. Others are not so obvious to those unless you grew up during that time. A mission early on sees you use a “Tom Cruise” cartridge in an 8-bit system. The pixelated graphics clearly make the game to be the NES Top Gun, and I was immediately brought back to when I used to play the game. To this day, I still remember picking the Tiger missiles and being the only one of my friends who could actually land at the end of the missions. Goonies, Pac-Man, Star Wars, Zelda and more are strewn about Unusual Findings. After all, the comic store is called “Emerald Sword” with a logo that is clearly Zelda. The nostalgia saves the game, and fans of the point and click adventure will enjoy it. Basically, Unusual Findings is the game that we thought the Stranger Things video game was going to be. After all, even the title Unusual Findings is synonymous with Stranger Things. That’s the best part of the game, trying to figure out what’s what. The voice acting in Unusual Findings is incredibly well done and by far the best part of the game. Being a point and click adventure, literally every single item has a comment from the group of friends.  You’ll spend a lot more time than you need to while playing just to see if one of them says something crazy. All things considered, Unusual Findings still has many strong points as noted. The glitches in progress, however, soured our taste and wasn’t enough to bring Unusual Findings back for us. It may not happen for everyone. It may not happen to you at all. It did, however, happen to us far too often. When all is said and done, Unusual Findings became more of an Abnormal Detection for us. Unusual Findings is available now on Xbox, PlayStation, PC and Switch

Need For Speed Unbound Trailer Officially Revealed Early, Releases December 2

Originally scheduled for an 11 AM EST reveal, the trailer for Need for Speed Unbound has been released a little bit earlier than expected. At 1:34 in length, we get a good look at the new features and what to expect in the game. As leaked, NFS Unbound will utilize a number of anime and cartoon-like features. For example, we see a car go airborne off a ramp followed up with a cartoon image of wings on the taillights as the car takes flight. A$AP Rocky is featured in the trailer with his music, but also as a character, as he challenges the player to a race with his own car as the reward. “I’ll put it to you like this. You dust me in this, I’ll let you have that sh*t” he says, as the cops roll up hard trying to take you down. NFS Unbound will release on PC and current gen Series S/X and PS5 only on December 2. You can pre-order the game now for 3 days early access and exclusive in game items by clicking here. Check out the trailer below.

Wild Hearts Gameplay Video Shows Off Some Meaty Monster Take Downs

After being announced last week, Omega Force has provided a nice glimpse of gameplay for Wild Hearts, the upcoming Monster Hunter-like title published by EA. The monsters, known as kumono, are sprawled throughout the land of Azuma. We get to check out a single player trying to take down a wild boar called Kingtusk, and his size fits his name. Of course, the trailer has the player fail in order to show off some co-op gameplay which follows. A lot of the game’s magical weapons like portable shields and helicopter like gliders are also shown off. They are the game’s new addition to the genre and provide a fresh take on combat. Wild Hearts is out next year on February 17th Series S/X, PS5 and PC. Check out the new gameplay below.

Unusual Findings Pre-Orders Are Live Now Ahead of Launch Next Week.

The upcoming point and click adventure title Unusual Findings is available to pre-order now before its launch next week. The Epic LLama game is a throwback to nostalgic 1980’s memorabilia as three friends attempt to solve the truth behind an alien invasion. Help Vinny, Nick and Tony (classic 80’s names, I know) explore the town utilizing the classic “grab”, look” and “talk” action buttons. They try to solve the mystery behind a pay-per-view adult channel with their brand new cable signal descrambler, but unexpectedly they pick up the distress signal of an alien spaceship crash-landing in the woods near their town. Things only get weirder as they realize that the towering alien is killing specific members of their community! Some features of the game are as follows: Follow the Sci-fi coming-of-age story of three friends fighting together against the unknown… things (maybe against some known things too…). Utilise “see”, “grab” and “talk” action tokens, take advantage of an inventory to use and combine items in and your wits are all you need to play the game. Stylized Pixel art. All the charm of pixel art of the past with more colours, combined with the new visual effects of the future. Some pixels look so real they can almost jump out of the screen. Go back to a simpler time where mixtapes were a thing, the Commodore 64 was king, and kids could go play outside at night and the only main thing of concern was the giant KILLER ALIEN trying to get you and your friends. The decisions you make affect relationships between each of the characters and thus by extension the puzzles, game progression and story. Choose wisely. The most radical music a synthesiser can play. Cool and thematic synthwave music arranged into catchy tunes that are made exclusively for the game to power up the 80s vibes for full immersion. You can pre-order on Xbox and PlayStation here now. Also, be sure to stay tuned for our review and coverage on launch day October 12. Unusual Findings will release on Steam, Xbox, PS and Switch.

Sonic Frontiers Opening Cinematic and Super Sonic Boss Fight Leaked

Sonic Frontiers is not due out until this November, but that hasn’t stopped a leaker from uploading the opening cinematic scene to the game as well as Super Sonic fighting a boss titan that was seen in the official trailer. The opening cinematic begins by showing Dr. Eggman getting sucked into some type of wormhole while trying to use the crystals. The scene then cuts to Sonic standing on top of a bi-plane being piloted by Tails and Amy. Another wormhole opens up in the middle of the sky and sucks them right up as well. There is no audio in the provided scene, but you can watch it here. The boss fight with Super Sonic and Titan can also be found in the link as well. The original video appears to be uploaded by Twitter user acrolvm, but the tweet encompassing this video has already been copyright claimed by Sega. Take a look, and let us know what you think. Sonic Frontiers releases November 8, 2022.

Project U, A New Co-op Shooter, Revealed by Ubisoft with Closed Play Test

A new official Ubisoft website for “Project U” is live now, and it is for an unannounced co-op shooter. The link, as found by Comicbook, has really no information about the title other than a statement that reads “Codename “Project U” explores a new concept of session-based co-op shooter, where many players unite to prevail against an overwhelming threat!”. The closed play test will only be relegated to PC players in western Europe, specifically the following countries: France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Austria, Switzerland, Portugal, Spain, Italy. The game will also be entirely in English. There is no date on when the actual closed test will start, but anyone who wishes to sign up may do so at the link above. No word on what the game may be, but session based against an overwhelming threat” sounds a lot like a 4v1 asymmetrical type of game. We have reached out to Ubisoft for comment.

Her arrival in this new world meant giving her a Fortnite twist, and muscles. If the thought of transforming into a questionably named, half goat / half human hybrid rocking a ragdoll print crop top is still your thing – live your best life. We won’t judge.”
