Xbox’s Elite Controller Is In High Demand But On A Shortage
Microsoft did not expect the Xbox Elite Controller to be so popular. It might have been because of its large price tag $150 that Microsoft thought that the Xbox One controller would not sell a lot, but that is far from the truth. The demand has been so high for the controller that even Gamestop and Amazon are sold out. Apparently Xbox One owners are very satisfied with the controller Despite its high price the quality of the controller is better than expected. The controller is highly customizable, you can easily swap out thumbsticks for ones you prefer. There are also customizable paddles that can be used for different controls. And you will also be able to remap your controls via Xbox’s new settings. The controller even has a better d-pad than the original Xbox One controller. “If I could have built 10 times the number I built, I would have,” Microsoft’s chief marketing officer Chris Capossela told the podcast Windows Weekly. Microsoft’s decision to create only so many controllers was because of the feedback at E3 2015 in June, where fans and press loved the high quality of the controller but were not excited by the price. It will be awhile until Microsoft meets the high demand of the controller but rather than getting one at a 3rd party store wait a couple weeks to get one. In our opinion and many others this is the very best controller in the market right now.
Xbox’s Scalebound Will Have “Broader Appeal”
Platinum Games who developed bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising: Revengance and now the Xbox One exclusive Scalebound says its a “gift” for Microsoft. Xbox Marketing head Aaron Greenberg says in a new interview. When asked if Microsoft might be challenged to the market the game widely, considering it’s from a Japanese developer that people may not be familiar with, Greenberg said it’s actually an opportunity. “It’s another gift for us,” he told DuelShockers. “If you think about what game director Hideki Kamiya has created, and his history of just creating incredibly unique games, that are such high quality and that are loved by core gamers… To be able to have him making a new IP exclusive for us and a big title, I think it’s something we’re really excited about.” When Scalebound was announced at E3 2014 it was shrouded in mystery with only small footage of gameplay. Aaron described it as an action RPG, and with those types of games it will not only appeal to Platinum Games’ fans but with all those who like those types of games. We think of it as an action RPG game, and we think it will both appeal to fans of the games that Platinum has made, but at the same time, I think it will be a game that will have a broader appeal to folks that maybe haven’t played their games before,” he explained. “So we’re excited to be able to introduce that to a broader audience as well.” Scalebound will offer 4 player co-op, a lot of action RPG elements, and riding dragons (Best feature so far) Platinum wants to show “the power of what the Xbox One can do” I think Scalebound will be one of the most anticipated games in 2016 and will bring new elements and mechanics of what an action RPG is. The same game experience is possible regardless of multiplayer or single player (with four AI). All of the game’s story and quests can be played single player, using AI heroes as sidekicks or enemies. It’s possible to play through the game’s content as either a Hero or as a Villain. During each quest, the four Hero characters must use teamwork to succeed in their objectives, while the Villain player opposes them with an army of creatures,
Xbox’s Aaron Greenberg discusses about Xbox 2016 games lineup
We have been seeing a lot of Xbox executives talk about how Xbox is going to have a great year in 2016. And now Aaron is part of this list. Yes Xbox’s head of marketing Aaron Greenberg has a little to say about next year. “We always have new things that we haven’t announced yet. I think we’ve definitely shown a lot of our 2016 lineup, and I think that was a big part of what we did at Gamescom this year. We have a lot of great games, and even if you just look at what we’ve announced… Think about the fact that there’s both a triple-A Halo game and a triple-A Gears game in the same Holiday. We’ve never had that before, as far as I can remember, in the history of our business. Having Halo Wars 2 and Gears of War 4, I think it’s just gonna be an unbelievable lineup. And we’ve got more titles on top of that. I mentioned Sea of Thieves, ReCore, Killer Instinct… and there will be more. There will be other titles that come from our id@Xbox partners, and we’ve got titles like cuphead, and Inside, and Below, and other big titles that we’re all anticipating. And then all the big third party titles. We expect next year to be an even bigger year for games. We expect there to be more games, we expect there to be more games sold, all up for the business, so we’re really kinda hitting our stride in this point in the console generation.” With new games coming out like Quantum Break, Scalebound, Gears of War 4 and more I have no doubt that Xbox is going to do even better in 2016. Phil Spencer Is Being Known As “Industry Personality” Of The Year And For Good Reason
Gaming Bolt today posted an article about Phil Spencer being the “Industry Personality” of the year. And that got me thinking, what does Industry Personality mean and why is Phil Spencer being recognized as it? Will when it says industry I presume it means the “Video Game industry” since Phil Spencer is the head of Xbox. And the Personality part means that someone who really cares about the business that he/she works for and that they strive to make a better image of that business and that business in this case is Video Games. So know we know what “Industry Personality” might mean but why Phil Spencer? To answer that we have to know who Phil Spencer is. If you are part of the Video Game/Xbox community then you should know who Phil Spencer is. He is the head of Xbox since March of last year and leads Microsoft Studios. He helps produce games, entertainment and premium content experiences for Microsoft’s devices including the Xbox One, Xbox 360, Kinect, Surface, Windows PC and mobile phones. Microsoft Studios has been instrumental in building a community of 76 million Xbox 360 owners and 48 million Xbox LIVE members through blockbuster game franchises such as Halo, Kinect Sports, Fable, Forza Motorsport and more. Spencer and his team led the development of brand new entertainment offerings including a landmark partnership with the NFL and collaborating with industry luminary Steven Spielberg to bring a new Halo live action TV series to life. A 25-year veteran of Microsoft, Spencer has held a variety of technical roles including development lead for Microsoft’s first CD-ROM-based titles including Encarta, development manager for Microsoft Money, and general manager of Microsoft’s online and offline consumer productivity products including Microsoft Works and Microsoft Picture It! Before being named general manager of Microsoft Studios worldwide in 2008, and promoted to corporate vice president in 2009, Spencer served as general manager of Microsoft Game Studios EMEA, working with the European development community. Spencer holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington and currently serves on the boards of The First Tee of Greater Seattle and the Entertainment Software Association. He lives in Bellevue, Washington, with his wife and two daughters. In his free time he enjoys snowboarding, playing golf with his family and traveling. I got this from a bio of his so don’t call me a stalker :p So now we know a little bit more about Phil Spencer but what has he done this year to deserve the title Industry Personality? Will he is known for making some huge moves such as unbundling the Kinect from the Xbox One console. But he is highly praised in the Xbox community. Not only for saying the right things but for his actions. When Spencer took charge we have seen the Xbox One have a major price drop, aggressive bundles, and a new look for the Xbox One UI. Even In the past few months there have been some huge announcements and changes for Xbox products. Such as Backwards Capability, on the Xbox One, A Xbox Elite controller, an Xbox One controller adapter, and Xbox being more integrated into Windows gaming. And Xbox has released a crap load of games such as Rare Replay, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, Forza Motorsport 6, Halo 5: Guardians, and Ori and the Blind Forest. Phil has also announced highly anticipated games coming to the Xbox One such as Gears of War 4, Rare Replay’s comeback with Sea of Thieves, Halo Wars 2, Quantum Break, Crackdown 3, ReCore, and Scalebound. As you can see that’s a lot of games he has helped produce or make interiorly. Spencer also made some good moves with third part deals.Rise of the Tomb Raider timed exclusivity deal from last year timed perfectly this year when the game launched for the Xbox One, got great reviews, and then sold many copies in the marketplace; but his other plans this year were far more successful. From a bundle with Fallout 4 (which also came with a free copy of Fallout 3 on the Xbox One) to exclusive merchandize for the Xbox One version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Microsoft also upgraded the Xbox 360’s service to improve their offerings for Xbox Live Games with Gold. Offering players four free full price games for free every month. Earlier this year they announced that the Xbox One would get two free new games every month, and with the onset of the Xbox 360 BC, it would become four, since all Xbox 360 games on Games with Gold would also be made Backwards Compatibly on the Xbox One. Since then, Microsoft have offered a lot of extremely impressive titles on the service. Such as Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Metro Redux, The Walking Dead, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, and more, Microsoft have been trying hard to get the biggest titles on Xbox for free for Xbox Gold members. All of this is because Microsoft and Phil Spencer want Xbox to be better for their fans and for the image Xbox provides for the gaming community. Under Phil Spencer, the Xbox One has begun its path to recovery . At first the Xbox One was at a rocky start, now under Phil Spencer Xbox seems intent on making itself a brand that exists primarily to serve gamers first consolidating itself for the long haul. ARK: Survival Evolved going to Xbox more details
Yes the dinosaur-riding game we all know and love is coming to the Xbox One’s Game Preview on December 16. This means that if you are in the Xbox Preview Program you will be able to download the game on December 16. Studio Wildcard’s fun, open-world caveman/dinosaur game ARK: Survival Evolved had a lot of attention on Windows PC when it was released on Steam early access this past June. With this much of attention Studio Wildcard wants to have the game on more platforms and attract more players starting with the Xbox One. ARK: Survival Evolved will be $34.99 with Xbox Game Preview on Xbox One and will include an exclusive bionic “Tek” T-Rex, Safari Hat, and Survivor’s Trophy, free access to Xbox-specific ARK official servers, and a steady delivery of exclusive Xbox One content prior to full game launch expected in June 2016. Studio Wildcard co-founder Jesse Rapczak is very exited about ARK coming to the Xbox One. ‘You’d be hard-pressed to find another game anywhere that has a huge and persistent open world, tens of thousands of unique A.I. characters, 70+ players per server, and exciting lore and endgame content. As well as single-player, non-dedicated and dedicated server modes,” said Rapczak. ‘Xbox Live provides a fair, secure, and robust multiplayer experience that minimizes cheating and reduces the barriers to playing with your friends,” You can also host your own 50+ player ARK server on a second Xbox One – which is something that would normally require an expensive PC server and a lot of management headaches. The gamepad control scheme is also much improved over the PC version. ARK on Xbox One will be the smoothest gameplay experience for the majority of gamers… especially for the price!” While at first when you start the game you will spend your first hours trying to hide from dinosaurs and other players and scavenge for supplies. But once you get a handle of how the game works and what your first objectives should be then you will have endless fun. You can tame and ride multiple dinosaurs, craft and find many useful items such as armor, weapons, and other supplies to help you survive. And also you can farm and grow your food with a variety of seeds, crop plots, and irrigation systems, and live a completely vegetarian lifestyle. (you can also eat the dinosaurs if you want) If you so happen to die in your game you can either spawn again with the same survivor you had before or start again. So remember you preview members will be able to ride your dinos on December 16.
