For 2023, there is some strong competition in terms of what games are truly eligible for game of the Year. And whilst The Game Awards is still roughly two months away, there is still room for more titles to join the this year’s impressive roster. One of the most praised titles for this year happens to be Larian Studios’ Baldur’s Gate 3. After years of waiting and an early access release, the title is officially out now on PC.
Even more, Baldur’s Gate 3 current is a console exclusive on PlayStation 5. Previously, the developer stated there were some limiting factors regarding Xbox Series S refraining a multiplatform release back in September. Howbeit, the game will still ship this year. The developer pressed it is aiming to ship Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox before 2024.
So what else is there? Well, the game is uniquely digital – outside of Japan that is. North American & European players do not have the option to purchase the game physically. But, director of publishing Michael Douse poses how much demand there is for the game via a post on X.
Currently, there is no confirmation on a worldwide physical version of the game planned for Baldur’s Gate 3. In response to his post, Douse did continue by clarifying that there will be two discs – taking a note from Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. “You mean two discs,” he answers. In a time of a growing digital market, it is reassuring that developers do attempt to listen to its consumers base.
On the other hand, there is other firms that are taking the all-digital route under the impression of convenience. In that, Remedy Entertainment & Epic Games are planning to ship Alan Wake II solely as a digital release later this October. You can read the full report by heading here.
