Larian Studios dropped Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox Series XlS on December 7 right after The Game Awards and now some question if it will come to Xbox Game Pass. When speaking to IGN in an interview, Swen Vincke talked about why the game will not come to the Xbox service.
“Oh, we always said from the get-go, it wasn’t going to be on Game Pass, it’s not going to be on Game Pass.”
“We made a big game, so I think there’s a fair price to be paid for that, and I think that that is okay. We don’t charge you any micro-transactions on top of it, so you get what you pay for. Upfront it’s a big meaty game. So I think that should be able to exist as it is. This is what allows us to continue making other games.
The founder of Larian Studios does have a point since there is a one-time purchase when it comes to Baldur’s Gate 3 unlike many other games available on Xbox Game Pass where there are likely other microtransaction features like Halo Infinite.
