During Gamescom 2023, Larian Studios confirmed that Baldur’s Gate 3 would come to Xbox Series XlS by year-end, but didn’t specify a specific date. In a recent interview with IGN, Swen Vincke gave an idea of when to expect the potential Game of The Year candidate on Xbox.
“2023 is narrowing, so it’s already pretty precise in my book. Between September and November… So, as fast as we can honestly,”
The reason Baldur’s Gate 3 was delayed for Xbox was due to difficulties implementing split-screen for Xbox Series S. They did confirm in a meeting with Phil Spencer that the game still won’t have that feature for Series S.
Vincke also talked about how the Xbox Series X version is in good shape and from a content point of view they’re actually close.
“So the Xbox Series X version was already in good shape last time I looked at it. So we’re just going to go through the motions, ‘Okay, what do we still need to do?’ Vincke says.
“There’s a bunch of stuff that needs to happen to finalize it. But I think from a content point of view and from a technical point of view, we’re actually very close.”
When Baldur’s Gate 3 comes to Xbocx Series XlS there will be cross-save progression between the console and Steam. Currently, the team at Larian Studios is preparing for the release of Baldur’s Gate 3 on PlayStation 5.
