Battlefield 2042 is one of 2021’s most anticipated titles and it was originally planned for a October 22nd release date. Today, Electronic Arts have announced that Battlefield 2042 will be releasing November 19, 2021 instead.
Here is the statement below:
“Building the next generation of Battlefield during a global pandemic has created unforeseen challenges for our development teams. Given the scale and scope of the game, we had hoped our teams would be back in our studios together as we move towards launch. With the ongoing conditions not allowing that to happen safely, and with all the hard work the teams are doing from home, we feel it is important to take the extra time to deliver on the vision of Battlefield 2042 for our players.”

Unsurprisingly, the pandemic is still having an impact on development of all games from indie to the big AAA titles including Battlefield 2042. The same happened with Halo Infinite in 2020 as it was planned for that Holiday season, but 343i decided to wait another year and launch the highly anticipated title on December 8, 2021.
Are you surprised by this delay?
