Battlefield 2042 Introduces New Survival Mode Limited-Time Event In Dead Space Crossover This Week

At DICE, the state of Battlefield is still unanswered as to the direction it is actually heading. While it is confident a new game is underway, what this new game will be compared to Battlefield 2042 leaves a heavy pressure on fans’ chests. In one respect, Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson said the series is returning in an “entirely new way” contrasting prior titles. But at the same time, it let go its single player division earlier this winter.

Additionally, the new title does enlist other developers to assist. With the final season for Battlefield 2042, Electronic Arts & DICE announce EA Motive is to participate in the making of the next Battlefield. It will be an interesting collaboration noting the developer did ship the Dead Space Remake. A partnership as such has not existed since Visceral Games – the original Dead Space team – developer & shipped Battlefield Hardline nearly a decade ago.

In a new reveal recently, DICE announces a new event is coming to Battlefield 2042. What’s more is that this new update includes a limited-time game mode which splices its DNA with Dead Space featuring a survival mode with the necromorphs of the iconic series. More exciting is that this update will go live from July 9th to July 16th.

“During this event, players will experience Outbreak. A new 4-player squad PvE experience where you will fight waves of Augmented Targets. Starting on the western end of Redacted, players fight through eight sectors while completing objectives until they call an elevator to exfiltrate out on the far-eastern end of the map,” the synopsis reveals.

“Outbreak is a high-intensity survival mode that will test your skills with enemies getting tougher and tougher the farther you progress through the sectors. Your squad will need to find ways to overcome the Augmented Target’s onslaught and counteract overwhelming waves of enemies.

“Players will be tasked with navigating through Redacted and adapt through successive waves, as you progress you’ll find armory stations to purchase weapons, be warned; ensure you use your resources wisely, as they are limited. Remember: Your final objective is to reach extraction, Augmented Targets will respawn endlessly, so don’t rush into the unknown.”

How excited are you for this new Outbreak mode?

Battlefield 2042 is out now for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
