Since the reveal of Battlefield V‘s version of Battle Royale, there hasn’t been much to go on, including the obvious lack of a name. We have now gained a little more insight on the new mode with the recent ‘This is Battlefield V’ trailer.
Sweden-based DICE revealed that the new mode will be titled Firestorm. This mode will put 16 teams of four, or 64 players, on a map to fight until they are the last surviving. With the inclusion of vehicles, players will have many ways to go about making it to the top.
It was also said that this mode will feature the biggest map ever in the Battlefield franchise, described as the proverbial “sandbox”. As the maps from previous games are already known for their sheer size, it’s crazy to see the developer pushing the boundaries even more. Firestorm will be “Royale done the Battlefield way”.
Also showcased in the trailer was upgraded mechanics such as better maneuvering, more realistic gunplay, and in-depth squad interaction. What stood out the most was the new fortification system. Players will be able to rebuild destroyed structures, along with building new constructions. Every player will be given a toolbox to create barricades, traps like foxholes, and make bridges over gaps in the map.
As mentioned in our exclusive back in April, Battlefield V is one of many that will be marketed under Microsoft. For the full list, check here.
Battlefield V will launch on November 20, 2018 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
