Speaking to the active players who have been busy for more than a week now, Fallout 76’s Wastelanders update officially shipped virtually revamping the base game that players have been subjected to since the launch back in November 2018. Now with a new story campaign and offering the implementation of NPCs to the mix, this new version should be as Fallout as it gets.
And while there is still plenty that needs to be done for the game, Bethesda has already brushed on future ambitions for the online-only game. In a recent Reddit AMA, the developer sheds light on possible new additions and pitched features that have grasped their attention. On the matter of content that will ship following Wastelanders, Project Lead Jeff Gardiner shares that planned expansions will incorporate not only new encounters, but new NPC characters and companions.
While we are focusing on multiplayer and replayable content, there will of course be NPCs, storylines, new companions, etc.
Gardiner in a separate response elsewhere spares details on the matters of refined respect system. Where the developer goes to explain that Bethesda has been tossing ideas on how to properly infuse more additions to this aspect of the game. “Respecing has been talked about at length and we hope to tackle this in the coming months. We are adding in Legendary Perks this summer, which transfer across characters in order to encourage folks to try different builds.”
What happens to be the juiciest tidbit shed on the matter of new content is whether or not it was properly addressed, but that they even responded to the question. Gardiner again answers with an ominous response that introduces the Brotherhood of Steel to the Appalachian Wasteland. The matter of the added content was not addressed whether it is a smaller update or its own decorated expansion.
Let’s just say the Brotherhood is now watching the wasteland of West Virginia very closely…
While much of what was already discussed happened to be teased or proposed content that holds not solid release date or announcement for those matters, Gardiner did reveal that a new event is scheduled to take place later this summer. While not sparing much on the foreground for the limited time experience, he did give that the Wendigo Colossus introduced from Wastelanders will be involved.
What was covered only happened to be a few of the pointers discussed during the online AMA. Other smaller discussion surrounds the ideas of befriending pets, the addition of another Mole Miner character, and the prized Marine combat helmet being given a crafting recipe in the short future.
