Nearly three months back in May of this year, developer id Software uploaded the first glimpse at the coming add-on story for Doom Eternal. With this being the first narrative DLC for id Software’s reboot of the titular franchise, many fans were eager to see what will be brought into the game following the base story campaign that arrived earlier this spring.

Collected from the images, you can witness that the new experience will transport the player to an oil rig-like setting and unmask what is expected to be a new terror of hellspawn waiting to be exterminated by the Doom Slayer. Granted, there were no further details following the images being posted, so fans including myself got creative with what could be included in the full expansion when id Software or Bethesda decides to share more.

During today’s QuakeCon @ Home, id Software unveiled a teaser trailer for the first DLC – announcing The Ancient Gods, Part One. You can view the teaser trailer in the video below:

“Your victory over Hell’s armies pulled humanity back from the edge of extinction, but it came at a cost,” the overview in the trailer’s description reads. “An imbalance of power in the heavens requires the true ruler of this universe to rise and set things right. Wage war across never-before-seen realms of the DOOM Universe and fight against new demons in your never-ending battle against the forces of evil.”

In addition to the brief look for what will come in the first segment of the string of DLC for Doom Eternal, Geoff Keighley – host for Gamescom Opening Night Live – disclosed that an extended gameplay preview for The Ancient Gods, Part One will be presented later this month, August 27.

Elsewhere this week, Bethesda shares that Doom Eternal alongside Zenimax Online Studio’s The Elder Scrolls Online will be supported for the next-generation consoles. You can read the full report by heading here.
