BioWare In Celebration Of N7 Day Shares A New Mass Effect Title Is In The “Early Stages” Of Development

Although many fans of Mass Effect are not happy with the current state of the franchise after the underwhelming success of 2017’s Mass Effect: Andromeda earlier this console generation, those same followers are still eager to learn as to what comes for the series. One year ago today, director for the Mass Effect trilogy Casey Hudson told that Mass Effect as a whole still has plenty of substance for new additions.

While not much was shared on the future of the series since last N7 Day, the firm has continued to elaborate on the state of other franchise since. Such as Dragon Age: where BioWare showcased on the concepts for the next mainline installment which was teased dating back to December 2018. BioWare more recently offered an update on the progress for the revamp of Anthem and the new UI to be implemented.

But today on this year’s N7 Day, BioWare finally let everything out by announcing that a new entry for the Mass Effect series is underway. While not much was disclosed, here is what was said in the blog post:

Here at BioWare, a veteran team has been hard at work envisioning the next chapter of the Mass Effect universe. We are in early stages on the project and can’t say any more just yet, but we’re looking forward to sharing our vision for where we’ll be going next.

The statement was also paired with a new piece of concept art for the unnamed project. Alike with Dragon Age, it might be years until we get a proper understanding as to what BioWare has planned for the future of the Mass Effect universe. But regardless, it is reassuring more is now in the pipeline for the series after these past few years.

Simultaneously, BioWare also revealed the long-awaited Mass Effect Legendary Edition. The three-game bundle will include enhancements of the original games for modern systems as well as optimization upgrades for next-generation consoles as well.
