BioWare Unveils May Release For Mass Effect: Legendary Edition

Outside of the long-awaited next Dragon Age title, there is plenty else that developer BioWare is cooking up. For starters, the team is currently finishing up on the endlessly-rumored Mass Effect Trilogy. It was in this past November on N7 Day (11/07) that the Electronic Arts studio unveiled Mass Effect: Legendary Edition. In that, players can revisit the classic, titular trilogy redefined for the latest console hardware – even including the Xbox Series X|S & PlayStation 5.

Projected for spring 2021, fans virtually have little time before the game drops on store shelves and digital storefronts. However, an approximate date was not provided at the time of the announcement. However, one video game retailer in Indonesia, GSSHOP, listed the game to launch on March 12. But BioWare says otherwise as of late.

In a new announcement on Tuesday, the developer issues a press release revealing that Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is set to arrive this coming May. You can watch the latest trailer for the three-game bundle in the video below:

“It’s been an incredible journey revisiting the stories, characters and iconic moments of the Mass Effect trilogy, enhancing the experience for modern platforms while staying true to the spirit of the original,” writes Project Director Mac Walters. “Remastering a game, let alone three, is a huge undertaking as there’s over 100 hours of gameplay included, but we wanted to do this for our fans as well as a new generation of gamers looking to jump into the iconic story of Shepard.”

Additionally, character customization for Commander Shepard is also expanded immensely for players exploring all three base campaigns. Even more, the female Shepard option that was unique to Mass Effect 3 is also being integrated across the first two games that the option was unfortunately absent in originally.

Atop of that, BioWare is still hard at work on the next major installment for Mass Effect. While not sharing much, the team did unveil an teaser trailer for its next game back during The Game Awards this past December. You can read the full report by heading here.
