For many developers, the starting out period in contrast to the current era is a night/day comparison. But while video games age with a bar for standards continuing to rise, many fans of the beloved inaugural entries for its favorite studios are remembered and even revisited. In some cases, companies return to its earliest work with re-released bundles like Konami did previously with its arcade collection alongside grouped Contra & Castlevania bundles as well.

As for a more recent case of that, Capcom also did the same with its own bevy of nostalgic releases with Capcom Arcade Stadium. In a similar approach, Capcom for Nintendo Switch is featuring a 32-game collection for its most reoccurring fans to pursue namely titles like 1943: The Battle of Midway for instance.

Now on Friday during Blizzcon Online, Blizzard Entertainment is following the same path with some of its early work announcing Blizzard Arcade Collection. You can watch the reveal trailer in the video below:

The Lost Vikings, Rock N Roll Racing, and Blackthorne ultimately made it possible for us to go on to create Warcraft®, Diablo®and StarCraft®, so we thought the Blizzard Arcade Collection would be a fun and fitting way to look back at our roots as a company,” J. Allen Brack, Blizzard Entertainment president states on the announcement.

“Many Blizzard gamers around the world fondly remember their time with these games and have often asked us to bring them back for modern platforms, so we’re thrilled to not only do so with this release, but to amp up the experience with new features and functionality available for the first time in each game.”

In addition to the announcement, Blizzard Entertainment also verifies previous reports by announcing Diablo II: Resurrected. The game is a reworking of the titular 2000 MMO RPG and will include all content for the game as well. You can read the full report by heading here.
