Amid the ongoing outcry for a new Silent Hill game, many fans in the past week faced an unfortunate downfall to one very hopeful conspiracy. While the upcoming PlayStation exclusive from Blue Box Game Studios appeared to echo close similarities to the Silent Hill IP, it is not tied to the franchise nor holds any connection to the creator of said property. Game director Hasan Kahraman on Twitter denounced the claims a second time as of reporting.
However, there are still lingering reports as to what might be for the Silent Hill franchise though. In that, Video Game Chronicles previously reported that publisher Konami has outsourced its property to a prominent Japanese developer in anticipation for an announcement this summer. Elsewhere, Polish game studio Bloober Team also hinted at a new partnership with a prolific publisher to work on “another horror IP”.
In a new press release from Bloober Team, the firm announces to be establishing a strategic partnership with Konami for the plans of “developing selected contents and exchanging know-how.”
It is a historic day for me and the culmination of several years of our work. The fact that such a renowned company as Konami has decided to strategically cooperate with the Bloober Team means that we also joined the world leaders in gaming and became an equal partner for the leading players in this market.
Piotr Babieno, Bloober Team CEO
Hideki Hayakawa, Representative Director & President Konami Digital Entertainment also comments on the new arrangement with Bloober Team: “We have been providing unique entertainment content and ways to enjoy it through the use of information technology. In the digital entertainment industry, significant changes in the business environment are expected in the future. We look forward to combining Bloober Team’s and our respective characteristics and strengths to create high-quality contents.”
From Video Game Chronicles, it is transcribed in a separate press release by Konami that it intends to “produce games from existing and new IPs”. Additionally, the publication goes on to elaborate that the new relationship between Bloober Team & Konami stands alongside its previous report on the Silent Hill IP outsourced to a Japanese team as the publisher experiments with multiple studios.
