Bravely Default Producer Pokes At Possible Remaster For The Nintendo 3DS Game

For many JRPG players, Square Enix stands at the forefront for this genre. Even when you disregard Final Fantasy, the publisher still offers unique and in-depth experiences that define the genre. Predating back to 2012, the firm shipped Bravely Default on the Nintendo 3DS which offers a new flavor to the genre. And even more with the sequel Bravely Default II which last year.

“Bravely Default II is still a fantastic throwback. Rich story, great characters, top notch sound and visual design complement the intense and engrossing combat mechanics. An ode to the RPG’s of yesterday, while also moving them forward into the modern landscape in a big way, our review for the game reads. Not to mention the 2022-released Triangle Strategy and 2023’s Octopath Traveler II as well.

Recently, Bravely Default producer Tomoya Asano when on the Bravely Default 10th Year Anniversary Livestream did hint at a possible remaster of the original handheld game, Gematsu translates.

“Over the past 10 years, our team has grown larger, and our capacity has increased. Looking at the opening movie of [Bravely Default:] Flying Fairy, I feel like announcing a remaster of [Bravely Default:] Flying Fairy would be the best possible thing and something fans would desire. But for now I’m unfortunately unable to announce anything like that. ‘For now,’ let’s just say.”

On the topic of modern JRPGs, the upcoming Final Fantasy XVI is set to release this coming summer in 2023. The next flagship Square Enix title is already confirmed to return to its fantasy storytelling and continue action combat after the transition made by Final Fantasy XV.
