To no surprise, Activision announced this Thursday that they will be releasing a new Call of Duty game this fall.
“This is an exciting new game from one of our top development teams,” Activision stated, later confirming Treyarch were the developers.
Treyarch created Call of Duty: World at War and the Black Ops series, but Activision declined to comment on whether the game was Black Ops 3, World at War 2 or an entirely different game.
Notably, a huge amount of people have been asking for a Call of Duty: World at War 2 because many do not like the futuristic setting. Personally, I don’t mind the futuristic vibe, but I think a return back to Call of Duty’s roots could do it some good. Many people believed this was confirmed when @Rajio on Twitter, Xbox Canada Community Manager, tweeted this photo:
However, he later confirmed that this was an unofficial picture, and not from Xbox.
Earlier I posted an unofficial (not from Xbox) image to see what others think of it, not as an endorsement or tease. Sorry for any confusion

This is Treyarch’s first game to be developed on Activision’s three year development cycle, with their most recent game being 2012’s Call of Duty Black Ops II.
Activision’s Publishing CEO, Eric Hirshberg also confirmed that Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare had reached over $1 billion in sales – and with the game still having three more expansion packs added to it, it’s safe to say we won’t be expecting any major news on Call of Duty 2015 for a while.
