Just going by the name alone, Call of Duty sells an outrageous amount of copies that is not anything to laugh about. Despite the heavy criticisms each game receives from the industry or its avid player base, each installment continues to outperform the previous. With the latest Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, it was less than half a year before the game ranked one of the highest selling entries for a new release.

However, the franchise is plagued: namely due to the file size requirement for the game. That alongside standalone client Call of Duty: Warzone, that and the 2020 release combined would overtake roughly 500 GB of hard drive space; enough to fill a PlayStation 4 internal memory unit. But when it comes to the coming Call of Duty: Vanguard from Sledgehammer Games, the firm is providing much needed compression for the newest launch.

On Twitter, the firm announced it would introduce one of the lowest file sizes for its game in comparison to predecessors that launched before. “Good news for hard drives everywhere: #Vanguard’s install size at launch will be significantly below previous #CallOfDuty releases. New on-demand texture streaming tech expected to save up to 30%-50%+ on next-gen console and PC hard drive disk space.”

On Wednesday, Sledgehammer Games shares the file sizes for the launch client of Call of Duty: Vanguard and it is impressive to say the least. You can view the list below:

PlayStation 5: 64.13 GB Download | 89.84 GB Required Space
PlayStation 4: 54.65 GB Download | 93.12 GB Required Space
Xbox Series X|S: 61 GB Download | 61 GB Required Space
Xbox One: 56.6 GB Download | 56.6 GB Required Space

As you can gather from the list, PC is missing. But, that is intentional. Instead, the details for all PC requirements and specifications is to be administered later on November 2, Sledgehammer Games tells. Expect variable file size minimums and more for the specs that are recommended on PC for Call of Duty: Vanguard.

Most noted from the list is that the game is not too far off for last-generation hardware to its next-generation counterparts. While the newer machines can pump out more consistent performance and picture quality, it is baffling that the size requirements are nearly parallel in comparison to its older siblings.
