It has been roughly a week since the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Warzone which introduced the realm of battle royale to the most popular first-person shooter of 2019. And despite the November-released title sold for $59.99, Warzone is a free client that anyone can download to play. This atop of incentive from cross-platform play swelled the player count on the first day well over 6 million.
Even after the fact, it was later revealed that Warzone then exceeded 15 million players which is more than double the first day attendance for the debuting mode. And already stating it being just about a week, developer Infinity Ward has already dropped new content for Warzone.
Revealed today, players can drop into Verdansk as an independent party in the ultimate free-for-all match against 149 other players. Being more direct, solo matchmaking has made its way into Warzone’s battle royale which ups the ante for the most skilled players to be the number one in the match.
“In Solos, you drop into Verdansk alone with Battle Royale rules. That means no squadmates, no friends – only you and a pistol with a few bullets. Think of this as Free-For-All in a traditional Call of Duty game, but on a massive scale,” the synapse for the new solos mode reads in the post.
While things are expected to change due to players surviving on their own, Infinity Ward tells to be the contrary. In fact, items like Self-Revives Kits are said to still be available to loot or purchase at in-game Buy Stations. However, when playing lone wolf, you will have to be extra keen on all your senses if you want to be the very last on alive.
For those looking for an extra tip, Infinity Ward also provided a ‘Top 5 Tips for Solos’ list which you can read in the latter of the announcement post.
