Capcom Confirms More Plans Are Underway For Ace Attorney Franchise

When it came to Ace Attorney at Capcom, it appeared the Game Boy Advanced series was a niché IP to explore in the future. But after the response from Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy, we witnessed an immense amount of support. Not only did we get the latter trilogy back in January this year, but also two region locked releases – The Great Ace Attorney & Ace Attorney Investigations Collection.

Looking ahead, there is room to expect beloved protagonist Apollo Justice. In one interview, producer Kenichi Hashimoto expressed interest to continue the character arc for him in future titles. “While Phoenix assumes the role of Apollo’s mentor, he himself transforms into a more competent ‘super’ lawyer who takes on challenging court cases and emerges victorious,” he explained.

Recently, Capcom held its own ‘That’s Wright! Ace Attorney TV!’ video to celebrate the Ace Attorney IP. And although new information was not shared on the future, Hashimoto did elaborate that there is no ceasing development for the future. Speaking to NetLab, and translated by NintendoEverything, projects are on the way.

“The Ace Attorney series won’t stop producing content. We definitely have a lot of directions we want to further grow in, including mixed media. There’s things we’d want to talk about when the time comes that we can reveal something, but for now I can’t say much,” Hashimoto stated on the matter. This comes as a response to the growing popularity in licensed products over in Japan recently.

“After all, the support from passionate fans is something that’s recognized not just by us developers, but also the company as a whole, including management, so it’s very important. Of course, the sales from goods don’t just directly become the development budget for new games, it leads into talks about ‘how to proceed going forth with this amount of popularity’, so merchandise sales is an important indicator,” he added.
