Over a year ago, Capcom announced Exoprimal: a new cooperative, dinosaur survival title featuring an arsenal of weapons, mechs, and abilities to fend off the Jurassic fiends. However, the developer was quick to extinguish any connections to the previous Dino Crisis. In a following interview, producer Ichiro Kiyokawa told IGN the new IP is not connected to the prior series. The game went to launch this month and shipped on Xbox Game Pass too.
From our review for Exoprimal, we wrote that the title “is a competent team based dinosaur shooting PVEVP experience that’s just plain dumb fun.” Adding, ”There’s no reason not to give it a try if you are already a subscriber of Xbox Game Pass, but I’d hold off for a sale if you aren’t.” Of course, there is more content to come later on this year and ahead for Exoprimal, Capcom confirms.
In celebration of the launch for Exoprimal recently, Capcom went ahead to give a briefing on its plans for the title moving forward. Later on July 28th, there will be a new Savage Gauntlet mode. “This challenging PvE mode puts squads to the test with late-game missions that rotate weekly. Savage Gauntlet is designed with experienced players in mind, so you’ll need to have completed the game’s story before you can unlock it,” Capcom writes.
Additionally, there will be content season to equally divide up new features that come to the main game. “Following Exoprimal’s launch, each new in-game season will be accompanied by a free Title Update! Each season brings with it a new Survival Pass, while Title Updates introduce additional contents such as Exosuit variants, modules that customize how Exosuits play, maps, enemies, final missions, and even crossover content with other Capcom franchises!”
Already, Season 1 has went live with the launch of the game. The aforementioned Savage Gauntlet is part of that. Furthermore, a new title update is promised to come on August 17th that will feature to Alpha variant exosuits. Season 2 is said to come in ‘mid-October’ and will feature the previously announced Street Fighter 6 collaboration alongside a new map and final mission.
Pushing ahead into 2024, Season 3 has little information on its plans aside from a newly announced Monster Hunter collaboration. Pertaining to the other content promised for the season has yet to be confirmed. What are you most excited about for Exoprimal’s post-launch?
Exoprimal is out now for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
