While the wait only surmounted for just over half a year, Capcom is planning to bring Resident Evil 8 to major consoles this coming May. Atop of the surprise for a spring release for the game, what really took fans to widen their eyes is that the same title is also facing support for the last-generation consoles – Xbox One & PlayStation 4. But that is not all.

In addition to the next mainline Resident Evil game arriving, there is also a new multiplayer experience. Similar to how Resident Evil 3 Remake shipped with Resident Evil Resistance previously, there is a new entry, Resident Evil Re:Verse. While instead of a trial and error trap game, this new project is to be a multiplayer matchmaking title that proves to be more fulfilling that previous.

While the game is slated to ship the same day as Resident Evil 8, there is no discussion that truly expands on what else the title will offer. Greatly appreciated, Capcom instead will be hosting a open beta for Resident Evil Re:Verse later starting April 8.

Interesting enough, there is no definitive date for when the playtest ends – just for when it begins. Notably, Capcom also issues that pre-downloading for the Resident Evil Re:Verse open beta will be going live three days in advanced, April 5. It appears that anyone can simply join the game as the title implies; players only require a Capcom ID.

Here are more clarifications provided by Capcom: “This beta test will test the game’s system, balance, and servers. Unexpected maintenance may occur. If you have downloaded the closed beta test version of the game then you will not need to re-download the game for the open beta test.”

As for other news revolving around Resident Evil, the coming rebooted motion picture finally received an official title, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City. Additionally, the film is said to also be separate from the previous six-film franchise directed by Paul S.W. Anderson. You can read the full report by heading here.
