CD Projekt Red Confirms Cyberpunk 2077 Sold 13.7 Million In 2020 Alone

Now months following the jaw-dropping release of Cyberpunk 2077, and that’s with a bad connotation, many are baffled to believe the game even shipped the way it did. As many are familiar, developer CD Projekt Red did cite to be battling two separate lawsuits for the game’s release: one with an investor based in the United States and second with the state government of California shortly after.

In addition to that, it was previously indicated by Sony Interactive Entertainment that the PlayStation company for the time being will not be harboring the digital version of the game. So in late December hardly after the release of Cyberpunk 2077 did the platform drop the game from its online storefront. Currently, the game has still yet to be returned to the PlayStation Store.

While many urged to return the game in opposition to the poor handling of Cyberpunk 2077’s release, the firm still left with about 13 million copies sold. Now with a more approximate count, CD Projekt Red shares the number to be 13.7 million in 2020 alone.

“The past year was an especially busy period for us, culminating in the release of the largest project in the 26-year history of CD Projekt,” Adam Kiciński, President & CEO for CD Projekt Red tells in a press release. “Owing to great effort on the part of the entire team, we managed to introduce a new franchise to the market. However, as for the release itself – clearly not everything went according to plan.

“This was a huge lesson for us, one we will never forget – but I believe now is the time to look to the future. We remain ambitious and we are giving it our all to bring Cyberpunk to a level where everyone can fully enjoy the game, regardless of platform” While many went on to question if the developer will abandon further development, CD Projekt Red stated to be sticking with its plans for the game – even with the fixes atop of initial projects.

Most interesting about Cyberpunk 2077 that happens to correspond with the game’s performance is its progress on Steam. With less than a month before the year’s end, the title happened to be the most played and most purchased for 2020 on the platform. You can read the full report by heading here.
