Although majority of 2020 swiftly arose to becoming a complete debacle in itself as many were urged to remain at home as much as possible while the world shut down to squander spread of the novel coronavirus, the year came to a close on controversy regarding the year’s most anticipated release. That being Cyberpunk 2077, the game was released with a blanket of issues that deemed the experience to be unplayable on certain hardware.
Mainly the last-generation Xbox One & PlayStation 4, even its newer iterations One X and Pro models could not meet level standards as the new console generation is welcomed. The response of the game’s performance resulted in one financial firm, The Rosen Law Firm, to issue a class-action lawsuit based on the Polish developer misleading the state of the game on certain machines.
Howbeit, CD Projekt Res issued its own statement in response to the one delivered by the investor firm announcing to be defending itself against the claims made about Cyberpunk 2077.
The plaintiffs call for the court to adjudicate whether the actions undertaken by the Company and members of its Management Board in connection with the release of Cyberpunk 2077 constituted a violation of federal laws, i.a. by misleading investors and, consequently, causing them to incur damages.
The complaint does not specify the quantity of damages sought. The Company will undertake vigorous action to defend itself against any such claims.
Furthermore, developer CD Projekt Red does not view its interpretation of the state for Cyberpunk 2077 to be unplayable as inserted by the investor firm and plans to defend against the statement issued by The Rosen Law Firm. To grasp the viewpoint of the Polish game studio, CD Projekt Red does understand more optimizations are required for Cyberpunk 2077 on older systems, but the game is playable.
While the state of the title is not idealized as on PC or the next-generation Xbox Series X|S/PlayStation 5, Cyberpunk 2077 does operate similarly on all platforms. The most notable takeaway upon critiquing the title on older devices is the lacking framerate; though it is visually flat, the same bugs and hiccups are apparent. But, the performance is what truly kills the immersions of hundreds of players.
