Nintendo announced on Monday that Charles Martinet, also know as the voice of Mario will be stepping down from recording character voices for Nintendo games. Charles has been the voice of Mario going as far as Super Mario 64 all the way until now.

In the statement Nintendo shared, Shigeru Miyamoto and Charles Martinet will be sharing a special video message to fans at a later date. You can view the statement Nintendo released below:

Most recently, Charlies Martinet made a cameo in the Super Mario Bros. Movie where Chris Pratt voiced Mario for the whole film. Charles is currently 67 years old and has become a great icon for many fans of the Super Mario series.
