So far, 2023 is shaping up to being one of the best years for fighting titles in recent time. Already, Street Fighter 6 released back in early June. Not to mention the later fall launch for Mortal Kombat 1 as well. Additionally, there is more on the menu for Tekken is also anticipated to make return this year too. In that, Tekken 8 was officially announced last fall.
So much for Tekken since the initial reveal, Bandai Namco did give the game some spotlight at The Game Awards this past December to feature what the next entry has to offer. But, there has yet to be an official confirmation on when Tekken 8 will officially launch. But do not worry as closed testing is promised to roll out later this month.
In a trailer for the ‘Closed Network Test’ for Tekken 8, it reveals two scheduled dates: July 21 – July 24 for PlayStation 5 then July 28 – July 31 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. You can watch the trailer in the video below:
“The purpose of the Closed Network Test is to test the network and monitor the gameplay experience of TEKKEN 8. We aim to obtain feedback on the quality of the network and gameplay. We would greatly appreciate it if all participants could provide feedback through an online survey that we plan to send out via email after the Closed Network Test. Your valuable opinions will be used as a reference for adjustments to the battle system,” the team writes.
Characters Kazuya, Jin, King, Jun, Paul, Law, Jack-8, Lars, Xiaoyu, Nina, Leroy, Asuka, Lili, Hwoarang, Bryan, and Claudio will be playable in the Closed Network Test. For stages Urban Square (Evening), Yakushima, Rebel Hangar, Sanctum, and Arena will be available. Those eligible that register will receive emails on July 19 for PlayStation 5 followed by July 26 for Xbox Series X|S & PC.
Noted, the page also notes cross-play rank matches up to level 10 will be included in the Closed Network Test. Even more, Heat abilities have been altered for the closed test as ‘Heat Energy has been removed; ‘Heat Timer’ is adjusted to approach for activation; ‘Heat Smash’ is standardized for all characters.
