Katsushiro Harada, the Tekken series director has made it clear in the past how he’d love to have KFC icon – Colonel Sanders in the fighting game series. According to a recent interview with TheGamer, Harada actually pursued this idea.
The Tekken director said that he wanted to have Colonel Sanders from KFC fight in Tekken.
“A long time ago, I wanted to have Colonel Sanders from Kentucky Fried Chicken fight,” says Harada. “So, I asked to use Colonel Sanders and go to the head office in Japan.”
When asked at the Kentucky Fried Chicken head office in Japan, the looks Katsushiro Harada got was not good. The developer stated that he was given a “bad look” and he didn’t even try to push it.
It’s interesting that KFC did not want to be featured in Tekken 8 since there were other collaborations with the fast food chain with games like PUBG over the last year. It might’ve been because they didn’t want Colonel Sanders to fight against someone.
The world may never know exactly why the KFC icon will never be in Tekken 8. At least now we have confirmation that the character will not be coming anytime soon.
