Console Version For Gears Tactics Appears On Microsoft Store

Dating back to late April, Splash Damage’s Gears Tactics officially shipped spinning the core cover-based gameplay from the Gears of War series and meshing it into a real-time strategy with tile-based movements which could vary the outcome of each encounter. Masking the combat system with the game’s universe was implemented well to offer a fresh experience for the first-party franchise – similar to how Halo Wars was initially received over a decade ago.

Howbeit, the title only shipped to PC since its retail debut. At the time of the game’s announcement, Microsoft disclosed that Gears Tactics would be coming to Xbox One at some point, but it was never specified if it would be at launch or later on. But now witnessing it to be the latter three months later, fans could be expecting the game before the year’s end.

The title did get listed for keyboard & mouse support for Xbox One previously back in January 2019, so it was presumed there would be a release for the game the same year of its slated release. And now, that time looks to be soon as a listing for the console version of Gears Tactics appeared on the Microsoft Store. However, the page unfortunately does not spare an expected date aside from “coming to Xbox consoles later this year.”

“Cities on the planet Sera are beginning to fall to the monstrous threat rising from underground – the Locust Horde. With the government in disarray, a squad of survivors emerge as humanity’s last hope,” the synopsis reads on the Microsoft Store. “Play as Gabe Diaz, recruiting, equipping and commanding your squads on a desperate mission to hunt down the relentless and powerful leader of the Locust army: Ukkon, the evil mastermind who makes monsters.

“Against all odds and fighting for survival, outsmart your enemy in uniquely brutal, turn-based tactical combat. Experience the intensity of one of the most-acclaimed video game sagas in an exciting new way.” Developer Splash Damage, the team responsible for Gears Tactics, revealed last month to be working on Stadia exclusive Outcasters.
