Believe it or not, a dedicated version for Remedy Entertainment’s Control has still yet arrived to the latest fleet of console hardware. While the devices arrived over a month ago now, the Finnish game studio did not anticipate the weight of the load for its 2019 title to port. So in an update tweet, Remedy Entertainment pressed that the release for Control: Ultimate Edition would now be expected to arrive in “early 2021” at the earliest.
So, for now, the only way to experience Control on either Xbox Series X|S or PlayStation 5 would be through the respected backwards compatibility programs for those that own the game on the intended last-generation hardware. Howbeit, the game once understanding the perks of the coming updated version is stripped of features like raytracing and the option to incorporate a rock solid 60 frames per second performance.
But in a new teaser trailer for the next-generation release of Control: Ultimate Edition, Remedy Entertainment presents about half a minute of gameplay running natively on PlayStation 5. You can watch the trailer in the video below:
More interestingly, Remedy Entertainment pressed on the matters of what is unique to the upgraded release – which includes two modes to play. “Control Ultimate Edition comes to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S with a 60fps Performance Mode and 30fps Graphics Mode (with ray-tracing),” the developer writes in the video’s description.
The original release for Control: Ultimate Edition arrived with some controversy as many discovered the game would be the only key to the gate for cross-buy support on the then-approaching systems. But it was later addressed that the newer machines can still play the original versions of Control with backwards compatibility. You can read the full report by heading here.
