In the era of platform brawlers, there comes an odd time for the niché genre as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate officially concludes its post-launch plans for the 2018 release. Recently, the ongoing game welcomed the last official fighter to the game, Kingdom Heart’s Sora. Alongside that, other games are on the way to possibly fill that hole such as Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl.

“What’s here now is a great base of a game that is lacking a bit of content and polish. With the right support, I could see this game lasting for years through constant balance patches and DLC fighters,” our critic Gregory Dawes wrote for his review of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl upon its release. But, it appears that Warner Bros. is investigating possibilities for its own project.

From a leak on Reddit by poster u/hugeleakeractually, NetherRealm Studios is working on a new ‘Multiversus’ title that combines the likes of Smash-like gameplay with several Warner Bros-owned properties. Apparently, the project was in the development pipeline well before the announcement of the recent Nickelodeon title according to the post.

More recently, recognized Super Smash Bros. Melee competitor Hungrybox on Twitter brought the title to the spotlight posting an image of the game’s supposed roster alongside linking the video footage of the game. But, both have been taken down on behalf of the copyright holder.

Elsewhere from GamesBeat’s Jeff Grubb, he also comments on his knowledge of the project. Over on his Giant Bomb Grubbsnax show, he explains that the game appears to be a lower budget project as it could potentially aim for a free-to-play release. But, DLC will be purchasable for other Warner Bros. characters. Among what you could presume, Lebron James is a possible character for the post-launch roster. Grubb’s episode since has been removed.

More from the initial Reddit post, an anonymous source to the redditor provided a trademark link for Multiversus which was filed by Warner Bros. Entertainment as of September 30th last month. Other additions for the game goes on to reference Harry Potter and Ron Weasley as playable characters, but, the leaker notes it could not happen namely due to licensing for the franchise.

Do you hope that Warner Bros. Multiverse evolves into a full release?
