Ever since the second piece of downloadable content dropped for Remedy Entertainment’s Alan Wake with The Writer, countless fans have been hungry and patiently waiting for a follow-up of the title following the leading conclusion of the DLC. But with Quantum Break instead releasing later in 2016 along with Control which will be dropping this coming August, the hopes of an anticipated sequel slowly loses its grip from those who’ve been waiting.
And with the recent reacquisition of the licensing for the IP, we could potentially see the long awaited sequel in the horizon following the current projects on Remedy’s plate. Recently, Creative Director Same Lake for the 2010 title has shared with IGN that the studio is still interested in introducing a second title.
I want to make it. It’s a curious thing. At this point, so much time has passed. I feel that the bar is higher in some ways. It needs to be done right if it’s ever done. Everything needs to click into place, which is really hard to make it happen. So many things, for these big games to be greenlit, need to be aligned. But I’m hoping that someday….
Deprived from Lake’s statement, it is understanding why he would be hesitant to jump on working towards a sequel with how much time have passed. Aligning to the caliber of the original game while maintaining to meet expectations of the current market of AAA titles would be a major challenge for the developer to face with as it will be a ten year gap between the two titles.
For the time being, the future of Alan Wake is moving towards the living room as it was previously reported that the series is being adapted into a television show. Contradiction Films that is producing the upcoming television series has previously worked with adapting licensed titles to entertainment like Dead Rising and Mortal Kombat.
Would you get Alan Wake 2 if the developer decides to develop the sequel?
