In the ongoing stretch of work that continues to roll out for the Final Fantasy VII subseries, Square Enix is adamant to further this universe with new releases for the universe. But, some are at its end. Recently, the publisher announced that Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier, a mobile battle royale, is scheduled to shut down this coming January as the servers will shutter completely.

Additionally, more story-driven releases are on the way with a remaster for Crisis Core dubbed ‘Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion’. More interesting is this version will be coming to Xbox unlike 2020’s Final Fantasy VII Remake. On the matter of that game, its sequel ‘Final Fantasy VII Remake: Rebirth’ was also announced alongside the remastered release.

From a new trailer uploaded on Thursday, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion is scheduled to release next month in December. You can watch the footage in the video below:

“CRISIS CORE is a prequel to the original FINAL FANTASY VII that tells the story of Zack Fair – a SOLDIER operative with strong connections to many characters from that classic RPG. Sent on a mission to investigate missing Shinra personnel, Zack finds himself on a powerful journey that will test his skills and resolve in equal measure,” an overview for the game is written on the Square Enix website.

Furthermore, the firm presses on the differences this game stands against its original 2007 release. In that, the visual have been enhanced, combat meets standards for today’s players, the ‘Digital Mind Wave’ faced a major rework, Summons have been completely revamped, enemy attacks are realistic, an entirely voice cast, and a re-scored soundtrack.
