More than a year ago at last year’s Microsoft press conference, Studio MDHR announced the Delicious Last Course DLC that would introduce a new playable character, Ms. Chalice. Along with an entire new isle for players to take on more challenging bosses, the content was initially planned to drop sometime in the coming year, 2019.
Leading up to his year’s Microsoft event in Los Angeles, many expected that an approximate date for when the new content will drop for the upcoming DLC: but as we have seen the show brushing close to three weeks now, we are aware that Cuphead was absent at this year’s press conference. But today, Studio MDHR Co-Director Chad Moldenhauer has given an update on the status of the Delicious Last Course.
“Our highest priority is making sure this new adventure meets the meticulous level of care and quality we always strive for. We want to be absolutely certain that this next adventure feels at home in the world of Cuphead and is full of moments that surprise and delight players,“ Moldenhauer explains in the post. “With that in mind, we’re taking a page out of Chef Saltbaker’s book, and spending the necessary time to get the recipe just right – this means that we’ll be moving the release of The Delicious Last Course to 2020.”
Moldenhauer continues on to share that despite the burden to push the content to next year, he wants to reassure those waiting that the decision is to give a proper experience with as little flaws as possible. Looking at the result of a 2020 release now, it seems that the content could have been initially aimed sometime for this coming Fall, also implying that the following year could receive the full release in the first few months potentially.
The Director did however share some more information along with the newly aimed launch date, revealing that Ms. Chalice along with providing more insight on her abilities like being able to double jump, will as well be playable in all existing isles in the base game.
