For followers who caught wind this week, developer Behaviour Interactive has celebrated its four year anniversary for Dead by Daylight with a celebratory livestream showcasing new details and information to come later on for the title. Among the time speaking with its followers recently, the studio announced that the next chapter add-on for the game will include the Silent Hill series and its iconic Pyramid Head as the next killer being added.
But the news does not stop there as Behaviour Interactive has also spared elsewhere during the livestream that the game will be bridging its online lobbies between systems via support for cross-platform play. The feature is told to be supported for the Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC versions of the game.
Cross-friends is one of our most asked-for and requested features and we’re really happy to say it’s finally coming to the game this year.

The team expands on the matter by explaining that the game will be subjected to an in-game friend list that players can utilize to save people they run across even if they are on a different system. This friend list can then be propped to help players create cross-play lobbies or play custom matches as well. Cross-play is said to be integrated into base matchmaking and will not affect ranking up when integrated with users on different hardware.
Behaviour Interactive also brushes upon the addition of cross-progression as well, but that feature has yet to properly be established as maintaining a functioning cross-play is a bigger priority. But, the studio does spare new confirmed details that Dead by Daylight will also be receiving a graphical update to align more with the standards projected by other titles for this generation.
“We are going to update all the maps that are in the game, but that’s not going to be only that. It is going to be a massive graphical update. We are going to review all the special effects – the animation and we are going to add more lighting to the game so we can play more with the tension, the creepiness in the trials.” The team tells that this will be a small task to overcome, but will take time that will be done through phases since there are more than four years of assets to review for the upgrade.
