2023 started off on a strong note in the most surprising way: while Glen Schofield – the original creator for Dead Space shipped The Callisto Protocol in December – January welcomed Dead Space Remake and it was better received. From our review of Dead Space: “It’s a return to the survival horror the franchise was known for, and it feels like Dead Space’s unique sci-fi style has been truly perfected for the first time. Every shot, grunt, and pounce come to life and helps scare you when needed.”
Amid the excitement of the new release, more unraveled regarding the IP elsewhere. Via Fortnite, the ‘Strange Transmissions Quest Pack’ introduces Isaac Clarke as an official skin to the battle royale. Additionally, director John Carpenter disclosed a film adaptation is underway although clarifying he will not helm the production in the director’s chair when speaking to Variety at the time.
Now according to Twitter user @TafferKing451, Electronic Arts is now emailing surveys to recent players of the Dead Space Remake asking if the same attention to the 2008 title would be appropriate for the sequels that came after it.
In the images shared, both Dead Space 2 & Dead Space 3 were mentioned for potential remakes. This is no secret for publishers to poll directly from its user base to determine what games should come next. From one Capcom survey, the Japanese firm asked a similar question for Resident Evil back in 2020. March is to offer Resident Evil 4 Remake – likely a byproduct of this approach.
Other examples includes Atlus with its IPs as well. The firm previously asked what titles it would like to see next on Nintendo Switch. The developer also question for input on shipping Persona to Xbox. The latest trio of games – Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 5 Royal – were revealed for Xbox last June.
