Just last week, Square Enix broke the news that the Japanese publisher would be hosting its own livestreamed showcase. Dubbed ‘Square Enix Presents’, the show was told to feature a plethora of announcements in regards to upcoming release Outriders from People Can Fly, and update on the 25th anniversary for Tomb Raider, and new details on the next release for the Life is Strange franchise.

Notably, the announcement came with the notion that developer Dontnod Entertainment would be dealing the unveiling. Already, the French developer issued to be handling more than a handful of releases in the coming years as per a interview last year. However, upon the reveal, Life is Strange: Before the Storm team Deck Nine Games is to be responsible for the new game.

Announcing Life is Strange: True Colors, the game is another spin-off release for the series and will arrive as one major release rather than the traditional episodic structure previous releases were met with. You can watch the reveal trailer in the video below:

“Alex Chen hides her ‘curse’: the supernatural ability to absorb and manipulate the strong emotions of others. When her brother dies in a so-called accident, she must embrace her volatile power to find the truth — and reveal dark secrets buried by the town,” the overview on the game’s official website reads.

“Deep in the mountains of Colorado, you’ll find Haven Springs, a small mining town filled with beauty and mystery. As Alex, you’ll discover the shocking secrets behind your brother’s death in an emotional roller-coaster of an adventure, using your psychic power of Empathy to change fate and change lives.”

Are you excited for a new spin on the Life is Strange series?

Life is Strange: True Colors is listed for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, and Stadia to arrive on September 10, 2021.
