Nintendo last month at E3 announced that the final Splatfest for Splatoon 2 to come later in the Summer. But following Chaos vs. Order, what’s next to come for the series is an expected third installment, right? According to a recent interview with Producer Hisashi Nogami, the team has yet to start development on the follow-up.
When speaking to Japanese magazine Famitsu, Nogami shared that unlike the development for the second Splatoon title started development directly after the first, Splatoon 3 however has yet to begin.
“Splatoon 2’s production started moving right after 1 was released. Now we also had production for Octo Expansion so we’re fully focused on the updates, and we still haven’t thought of the future,” Nogami told Famits. “We’re not yet at a phase where we can make a promise, but we’d like to return the favour in some sort of way to many people who have supported us. If you continue to support us, it might turn into reality.”
The Producer did clarify that despite the last Splatfest is upon us shared that constant balances and gameplay tweaks are still planned to drop for the current game. As the team is still contemplating to make another Splatoon, the best is for fans to show support for the developer leading to the final event and following to hopefully solidify a chance for the next installment.
Splatpocalypse has already started on Splatoon 2 and fans who own the game can join in now fighting between Order or Chaos.
Splatoon 2 is out now for Nintendo Switch.
