Deviation Games, a PlayStation-backed studio announced it has closed down after being founded in 2020 by two veteran Call of Duty developers. The studio was working on an original FPS IP that was going to be console exclusive to PlayStation.
The announcement comes from Kriste Stull, Chief HR & Operations Officer at Deviation Games sharing her thanks to everyone for their hard work, dedication, and contributions to the studio.
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of Deviation Games. I want to express my deepest gratitude to our entire team. Thank you for all your hard work, dedication, and contributions to Deviation; I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have worked with each and every one of you.
To the entire video game industry, we will be hosting a networking event, and we would love for any/all companies/studios hiring to participate. Please reach out to me directly if you are interested in attending.
To all the Deviators out there, we will always cherish the memories we made together. Thank you for being a part of our journey. Go get ’em!”
Deviation Games apparently had over 100 employees in 2021 when they announced a partnership with Sony in 2021. Last month, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced they were laying off 900 of its employees worldwide which did impact a lot of their studios.
Most recently, Call of Duty veteran, David Vonderhaar left Treyarch Studios to form his brand-new AAA game studio, BulletFarm creating an original game.
