For modern Diablo fans, the franchise is taking an interesting turn of events with the franchise’s latest entry, Diablo IV, still in development. For one, the leadership at the developer is notably interesting. In that, former The Coalition lead Rod Fergusson announced previously that he will be heading to the developer as he takes on a role to oversee the development for the coming fourth installment.
Additionally, word as of recent issued a fan-favorite release making a comeback. In January, Bloomberg reports that with the merge of Vicarious Visions with Blizzard Entertainment, the Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 + 2 team will be helming a new project: a Diablo II remake. While not elaborating on much aside from the studio’s involvement, it was difficult to determine when the project will for certain arrive to store shelves.
Now in a new announcement at Blizzcon Online, Blizzard Entertainment unveils Diablo II: Resurrected. You can watch the reveal trailer for the game in the video below:
“Pursue the mysterious Dark Wanderer and fight the denizens of hell as you uncover the fate of the Prime Evils Diablo, Mephisto, and Baal,” one synopsis reads on the game’s website. “Battle your way through icy caverns, horrific tombs filled with undead abominations, and frozen wastelands to the frigid summit of Mount Arreat and stop Baal, the Lord of Destruction.
“Raise hell with two Lord of Destruction playable classes—the cunning Assassin, master of traps and shadow disciplines, and the savage Druid, a bold shapeshifter and summoner who commands primal elemental magic.” All content for the base game will be included atop of the post-launch expansion, Diablo II: Lord of Destruction.
Alongside the evident revamp appearance for the classic 2000 title, Diablo II: Resurrected is told to also feature a technical alpha for the game prior to its release. Fans can opt-in for the playtest via pre-purchasing the game on the official website. You can read more on the closed alpha by heading here.
