DICE Shares First Official Roadmap Plans For Battlefield 2042

Delving into the belly of the best that is Battlefield 2042, the state of the game is not a great state that many anticipated when being introduced to the release back in mid 2021. While the game is held in high regards after the lackluster release that was Battlefield V, the title was overshadowed by Halo Infinite at the time. What didn’t help was the game felt unfinished with aspects of the game leaving players questioning the mindset of DICE & Electronic Arts.

From our review for the game, “Battlefield 2042 has elements of a good game, and in the technology moves the franchise forward in big ways. Unfortunately technical issues and some questionable design elements prevent it from being an all time classic.” However, the future does appear to be bright with Battlefield Portal moving forward from the community-driven initiative. Even then that is left unsure.

Recently, the Zombie Survival mode for the entity was pulled shortly after release thanks to an XP exploit. But despite the current state of the game, DICE is still moving head first with the game introducing its first official roadmap for Battlefield 2042.

“When Season One arrives in early Summer, it will mark the start of a year where we’ll deliver four Seasons, four new Specialists, and new locations along with more completely new content. We know that this release is later than anticipated for many of you who purchased or upgraded to the Year 1 Pass as part of the Gold and Ultimate Editions,” Senior Producer Ryan McArthur shared.

Looking ahead, DICE also looks to include requested features for the game including scoreboards which also ties into K/D ratio & end game results in a later update. Additionally, all-platform voice chat is in the pipeline for Battlefield 2042. Player overview profiles are also being tackled for the game as well the team presses.

Amid the issues at hand for Battlefield 2042, Electronic Arts appears to be taking its chances into its own hands moving forward. According to industry insider @_Tom_Henderson_, the firm is investigating the possibility of bring the game to free-to-play later down the line. You can read the full report by heading here.
