Arriving back in September 2019, Mutazione pressed player’s emotions through its simple yet meaningful projection of ambient music that users control through the plants they place in-game. With the extra layer of questioning identity set in a world where humans and mutants coexist, there is no question as to why the game left many players at the time enjoying every second of the experience.

However, the game was only made available for PlayStation 4 and PC at the time. Although the Xbox One and Nintendo Switch remained prevalent at the time, the game did not make the leap to either platform. It did happen to migrate over to Epic Games Store and Apple Arcade additionally, but no signs of port to other tangible hardware.

In a new announcement on Thursday, developer Die Gute Fabrik announced that Mutazione will be coming to Xbox One & Nintendo Switch next week.

Possibly the question we’re asked the most is whether or not we will be releasing Mutazione on Switch, well, as of today I’m delighted to be able to tell you that we will be releasing the game.

Xbox platforms are also a really exciting new place to be brining the game to – the indie representation on Xbox is getting really impressive. And in testing Mutazione on there I’ve especially enjoyed how my little jokes in the achievements come across in their UI. If you’re an Xbox fan.

Additionally, there will be physical versions of the game being handled by iam8bit, the team shares. “We’re also absolutely delighted to announce a collaboration with Iam8bit! They’re going to be producing a Nintendo Switch and PlayStation physical edition of the game, with exclusive cover art, gorgeous plant poster, and a ‘seed packet’ which will include a special code to a rare plant for you to add to your gardens in Garden Mode”

Back during PAX West 2019, Rectify Gaming spoke with Mutazione Creative Director Nils Deneken, he shared his intentions for players that experience the game first-hand. “I want those when playing to experience a palette of emotions as they progress through the game. For the player to feel sad when it has to be – or happy, or mad, or any other emotion that they will run into.” You can read the full report by heading here.
