Digital Eclipse’s ‘Gold Master Series’ Continues With Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story

When it comes to exploring the rich history at the start of the video game era, Digital Eclipse has begun to revitalize the components that brought the industry to where it is today. Last year, it started with Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration which featured a compilation of titles offered from the firm with an engrossing amount of documentary-like additions for respected games.

Additionally, we saw this grow with the more recent ‘Holiday Content Update’ which featured another dozen new titles to the main Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration title. Elsewhere, Digital Eclipse launched a new ‘Gold Master Series’ which reflects on other pivotal releases – starting with The Making Of Karateka earlier in 2023.

This month, Digital Eclipse returns announcing Gold Master Series is to return with a new project, Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story. You can watch the announcement trailer in the video below:

“Journey back in time to an era of cassette tapes, photocopied zines, and README.TXT. An era in which a kid with a Commodore VIC-20 and dreams of radioactive sheep could become one of Britain’s best-known game makers. A virtual museum of design documents, playable games, and all-new video features tell the fascinating story of a true independent game designer,” the description reads.

“Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story includes 42 classic games from 8 different platforms, from Jeff Minter’s earliest work on the Sinclair ZX81 and Commodore VIC-20, to later work on the Spectrum, Commodore 64 and Atari 800, through to the Atari ST line of computers and Atari’s gaming console, the Jaguar. A full game list follows at the bottom of the page.”
