One of the biggest events of the year revolving around competitive fighters is just around the corner with EVO 2019 set to go live early next month. And alongside the masses of participants that will be competing amongst each other throughout the duration of the three-day event, there is also a chance of catching a reveal from one of the game’s that will be hosted in Las Vegas.
Earlier this week, the event’s official Twitter disclosed that it will be partnering up alongside PlayStation as 8 of the 9 titles present at EVO will be played on Sony’s platform, exempting Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. This break of news segued to the possibility that an announcement involving Capcom’s Street Fighter series could be breaking at the upcoming event.
For those who might not be aware, Sony and Capcom currently hold a tight relationship when it comes to the fighter series as the current game’s marketing rights, Street Fighter V, is under the PlayStation owner. This influenced the idea to making it plausible that there will be some sort of reveal coming during the show, however, the game’s Producer has clarified publically that is not the case.
I don't have SF6…
Who ever said so?

Producer Yoshinoro Ono on Twitter told in his post that he does not “have SF6,” and redirects his attention towards the Arcade Edition of the 2016 title instead: which does debunk the possibility of seeing the anticipated follow-up to be shown at next week’s event. What does this mean for the unannounced sequel? That the developer currently isn’t ready to show it off to the world, yet.
As per every series that holds a cult following like Street Fighter, the developer is always looking for ways to expand on the series with every option at hand. It is expected, at the very least, that a another installment is being developed as we speak, but for when fans can expect to see the proper reveal is left to where the studio stands on the project.
Regarding this year’s EVO 2019 lineup for Rectify Esports, the organization have signed Ryan ‘Big D’ Dedomenico last month where he will be representing for Mortal Kombat 11 alongside Andres ‘Wonderbread’ Parrales-Melendez who will be participating for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
The first day for EVO 2019 goes live on August 2, 2019.
