Dozens Of Clips Surface Online Leaking Gameplay For New Grand Theft Auto Game

Back in February this year, the world finally received some relief for the millions awaiting where the next Grand Theft Auto game is. At the time, Rockstar Games did confirm it is working on the next mainline installment. For nearly a decade, the game became the best-selling release of the 2010s and shipped with three different iterations for respected console generations.

But, what will the next game consist of? Well, in early July Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier reported the new game to be returning to Vice City. Atop of that, multiple protagonists will make a return with a new duo; male & female. In a separate story later that month, it was shared that Rockstar Games is ramping up morale at the team internally for the next game. Also going on to confirm ‘Project Americas’ which leaked previously indicating expanding beyond the fictional Miami setting.

This weekend, a slew of videos surfaced online revealing multiple instances of the new game online which might be one of the largest scandals in history of the video game industry. Through a ResetEra post, it is shared that more than 80 videos were archived of a build for the so-called Grand Theft Auto VI from 2019.

What is more surprising is that Schreier has went on to confirm with sources involved at Rockstar Games that the footage is genuine. “Not that there was much doubt, but I’ve confirmed with Rockstar sources that this weekend’s massive Grand Theft Auto VI leak is indeed real. The footage is early and unfinished, of course.”

Most of the footage consists of rendered characters and unfinished textured environments as the user plays with the mechanics in the new game. This spans across the standard control inputs, police system, and a few moments behind the wheel of a vehicle. Additionally, the videos collectively confirm the game to be set in Vice City from prints on cars, billboards, and the general consensus that the setting is going for.

So, what does this mean? According to Schreier, this is a big leak for Rockstar Games. However, he does clarify that repercussions will not dished for quite some time. Additionally, there is no comment on how soon we will get an official announcement on the game neither. But, we do know it is certainly underway from the looks of it.
