With the launch preceding the 2020 pandemic, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot continues to receive support more than three years later. Originally announced as the first major RPG in the Dragon Ball universe, it offers a strong retelling of Goku’s coming up to who we know today in the developing anime series. The last update for the game actually came earlier this January with next-gen enhancements on PlayStation 5 & Xbox Series X|S.
As for other updates that launched for the game, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot also featured two major in-game DLCs which expanded the story for Goku. In that, it featured a two-part storyline – A New Power Awakens. The first arrived in April 2020 whilst the latter arrived November 2020. In 2021, a separate DLC dubbed ‘Trunks: The Warrior of Hope’ went live that summer.
This week, a new add-on titled ‘The 23rd World Tournament’ has launched for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. You can watch the launch trailer in the video below:
“Join Goku in his legendary battle at the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament. Strike your way through your opponents or knock them out of the ring to become victorious!” the YouTube description reads. In the footage, it is revealed that the titular tournament is erected and Piccolo makes his entry in hopes to dominate the world.
From our review for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, we gave the game an 8.2/10 for its “love, dedication and engaging battle system do the series proud. […] It’s a world of Dragon Ball out there, and Kakarot is another in a line of strong titles that is rewarding for fans of the series and a great entry point for newcomers.” You can read the full piece by heading here.
