In a recent report this week, Polish video game outlet PolskiGamedav.pl shared to have spoken with individuals within Dying Light developer Techland that disclosed to be conjuring the upcoming sequel in the midst harsh work culture going rampant at its Warsaw studio. Revealing that individuals are being subjected to intense working conditions as the development is taking a toll on employees at the team.
However, the claims made have now been denounced as one Techland employee comes out to speak on the matter. Ola Sondej, Techland PR representative disclosed on Twitter that the report happens to be very inaccurate with the actual events going on within Techland. For starters, development is still going according to plan at the studio, “moving forward Sondej tells.”
Even more, she goes on to dismantle a separate claim which reported that Techand happened to be acquired by a publisher in the thread. “In case you guys wondered, Techland was not acquired by another publisher. We’re still an independent studio.” The claim suggested that the Polish team was acquired by Microsoft at the time, but now that shows not to be the case.
The initial noise revolving around Techland was discovered to be a loosely interpreted translation of the report from the Polish video game outlet followed by word of mouth which amplified the situation. This then led to Sondej to comment on the claims as media outlets began to report the situation as fact when that was not the case in reality.
As of yet, Dying Light 2 is still in development with an undetermined release date. The project’s initial spring 2020 release date was shelved as the team asked for more time to capture the vision of the title. It is expected that the COVID-19 outbreak is also influencing for a potentially longer wait as well since other projects in the industry have been affected in that way.
